Lots to update!

Ok...  So a lot has been happening the past few weeks.  And you'll know why soon enough.  Well, unfortunately our dear friend and neighbor passed a month ago.  It was one hell of a week and one heck of a domino affect.  Just a fair warning, this post might be very long with this update.

On the sixth of this month, our idiot and selfish neighbor got arrested for a DUI.  We have told him numerou times how his drinking affected everyone around him, including his girlfriend, a dear friend of mine.  Well, the night of the sixth, he got pulled over and the cops found out he was drinking.  Not sure how, but we assume it was because he had an open container in his lap.  So he got booked and we all found out that this is his 5th DUI...  You would think you would learn right after the first, right???  Well, the next day, Friday, our neighbor was watching Wyatt like she usually does on Fridays for us.  She was so glad to have Wyatt that day because she said he made her smile and he made her day so much better.  I asked if she was doing ok and she confirmed that she will be just fine.  I made her homemade cheesecake and home made salsa as well.  Mostly for a "thank you" for watching Wyatt for us on Mondays and Fridays.  She loved it!  And she did seem fine on Friday.  She was saying how when "he" gets out that there would be no alcohol at all and if the parole officers want to do a random search, they can.  But we were trying to tell her to not get her hopes up too much, and to prepare for what might happen, whether he gets out or not.

On Saturday, I was busy baking cookies for a fund raiser at daddy's work.  I was in and out of the kitchen, playing with Wyatt, baking cookies.  It was one heck of a busy morning.  I saw our neighbor that day as I was getting ready to load up the cookies and Wyatt into the truck.  Since I had a bunch of cookies to bring to the store, I asked our neighbor if she can hold Wyatt while I put the cookies in the truck.  She seemed fine and dandy that day too.  She was having fun with Wyatt, making him laugh.  She always said he is just such a joy and such a blessing.  She absolutely loved being around him.  She always called him "Smiley" because that's all he would do...  is Smile and she loved that.  She loved his company...  Well, anyway...  I went to drop the cookies off at the store, hung out for  alittle bit and then headed back home.  When we got home, our neighbor, like usual, walked out of her door and towards the truck to greet Wyatt.  And in her hand, she made mac and cheese for him!  She was telling em how much he loves mac and cheese.  The rest of the day, wyatt and I just stayed inside.  He had his mac and cheese (which he LOVED!) and we just ended the day.

On Sunday morning, we heard a knock on our door.  It was the on-site manager.  She asked if we have seen our neighbor because they were supposed to go out and just drive to get her mind off of things.  I told her we didn't see her and that last time we saw her was the night before.  So we asked friends of ours (another neighbor) if they have heard or seen her.  But they haven't heard or seen her either.  So all day Sunday, we all were calling her, leaving text messages, etc.  But not one of us heard back from her.  By that evening, we heard that the incarcerated boyfriend's sister was coming by to their apartment.  We wanted nothing to do with them, we didn't want to help them.  But we did find out that our neighbor's dog was in the apartment all day.  Poor Sasha was by herself and scared.  We did ask the sister what they're goin to do with Sasha and she said "oh, we'll take her to the pound and 'retire' her."  Umm... I'm sorry... WHAT?!?!...  So now, we have a sweet little pit bull/terrier puppy living with us.  We've known her since our neighbors got her and no way in hell were we going to let them "retire" her.  Daddy had to carry her out of her crate because she was that scared!  Because Sasha was still at home and we still have not heard from our neighbor.  We all thought that she may have gone down the dark road and ended up in the hospital.  We each had a plan for Monday morning.  The manager was going to visit our missing neighbor's sister, the neighbor was going to check the hospitals and I was going to check online for any recent bookings.

I decided to stay home on Monday because Wyatt had a runny nose and a cough.  By 8am, I heard a knock on the door.  When i looked through the peep hole, I thought it was our neighbor.  When I opened up the door, it was a lady that asked if I had a key to the apartment next door.  Of course, Sasha and Mr. T came running up to the door barking.  When she saw Sasha, she asked if that was her.  So I explained to her that it was our neighbor's dog and that our neighbor has been missing since yesterday morning.  So she said she is our neighbor's sister and that she had some bad news...  And that's when I found out that our neighbor passed away that morning...  I was shocked because I just saw her the other day, lively and all.  Since she needed to look for paperwork, i took her to the on site manager's place.  Knocked on her door, and told her that it was our neighbor's sister that was here.  I stepped away and let them have a conversation.  And it shocked her too.  They went to the apartment, started looking through paperwork, and I got a call from daddy.  he said he was coming home with some coffee... and I told him I had some bad news...  Then our friend (the other neighbors) called me from her work, and I told her the bad news too...  it started to spread around us friends...  It hit us all real hard because not only was it just a total shock...  and not only was our neighbor our friend, but she was our family too.

She was Wyatt's favorite "aunt".  She watched him every Monday and Fridays and days when Wyatt wasn't feeling well.  When Daddy would leave in the morning with Wyatt, she would coem otuside to say bye to Wyatt.  When I came home from work, she would come out as soon as the truck was parked and come straight to the passenger door so that she can say Hi to Wyatt and hold him while I put our stuff into the apartment.  She loved watching him.  She said he was her joy.  She enjoyed every minute she spent with him.  We miss her so much.

Then, come Tuesday morning, both Greg and I got food poisining for a few days.  I stayed home for 2 days, but still wasn't feeling good until Friday.  Ugh, it was one heck of a week :-(

I really do miss my friend.  I had dreams about her that she wasn't gone.  When I see Wyatt, I think of her.  The days after we found out she passed, Greg and I were talking about how weird it felt that the routine we had, had a big impact on our lives.  We missed seeing her come say hi whenever we left.  We missed seeing her when we'd come home.  It felt so off not having that routine anymore.  It felt weird.  I would always stare at her door, just hoping she would just pop out to come say Hi to Wyatt.  But I am very glad and blessed to have met her and have become great friends with her.  She wa the type of person that you would be lucky if you had met her.  She was so down to earth, so caring and so lively.  She really did make mine and Wyatt's day.  She was a great person, one of a kind...  She will be missed.
